An explosion inside a Rancho Cordova apartment complex sent two to the hospital and 140 others were homeless.

Another explosion inside an Arden Arcade home resulted in major fire damage.

Two children, ages 6 and 2, were lucky to escape the fire, although their dog died.

What did these two explosions have in common?

The production of butane hash oil, a highly concentrated form of THC, the psychoactive substance in marijuana.

The Sacramento DA's Office is warning property owners to look for signs.

"Especially if you see glassware, PVC tubing, hose clamps, and that obviously the butane canisters. Basically you're looking at a bomb," said Michael Naves, assistant deputy DA.

The manufacture of Butane Hash Oil is illegal in California.

There is no defense under either Proposition 215 or the medical marijuana program of 2003.

Manufacturing hash oil is a felony, and is punishable by up to seven years in county jail.
