The San Jose City council will vote next week to allow wild pigs to be shot within city limits.

The law would allow the discharge of a weapon by a licensed trapper and only for the purpose of killing the feral pigs. The 200 to 300 pound swine have been tearing up homeowners' lawns, most recently eating up ten-thousand dollars worth of greens at the Almaden Country Club.

San Jose law currently prohibits the discharge of a firearm within city limits except by the police or in self-defense.
