A ruptured propane tank at a recycling plant caused an explosion this morning that could be heard throughout Downtown Sacramento.
Sacramento City Fire officials responded to 12th and North B streets when they heard the explosion from their station.
Firefighters responded to Sims Metal Management facility where they think an old propane tank on a bus that was waiting to be recycled was still full and caught fire.
Officials say there is no immediate threat to buildings in the area and there have been no injuries reported.
A few blocks remain closed after the explosion. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
