The Sacramento Kings have made a big investment, that will turn their new arena into an art gallery.

The team is partnering with the Sacramento Metro Arts Commission to use $5.5 million of their arena construction budget to create public art at the center and in the surrounding plaza.

Officials say a nine member team of "all-starts" including the director of the Crocker, the Art Commission's Chair, a collector and historian will reccomend acquisitions and commissions.

This is the largest public art investment in the city's history.

More was spent at the airport during Terminal B construction, but that's in the unincorporated county.
