Fun Facts About Every Big Block Party Performer

Our Big Block Party is just over a week away - and we can't wait to party with RBRM, SWV, Ginuwine, Kid Capri and DJ Wiz!

We know you've loved all of these artists for years, but how well do you know them?

Get to know every Big Block Party performer a little better with this list of fun facts before the show:

RBRM

According to BET mini-series The New Edition Story, Bobby has stage fright as a kid. He was so afraid to perform alone at a talent show in Boston, he asked Ricky and Mike to sing with him - marking their first show together.

SWV

The trio - made up of singers Coko, Taj and Lelee - dropped their debut album It's About Time in 1992. The album went double platinum within the year. After breaking up in the late 90s, the ladies got back together in 2005 to work on new music. They went on to star on WE tv reality show SWV Reunited for two seasons before releasing a new album in 2016.

Ginuwine

Ginuwine, real name is Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, was born in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area in 1970. After achieving musical success with hits like Pony, he decided to try acting. He played Reggie in the 2011 film The Ideal Husband with Jackee Harry in 2011 and appeared on multiple episodes of Parks and Recreation between 2014 and 2015.

Kid Capri

In an interview with Bomb Magazine, Kid revealed how he got his stage name, saying: "That comes from a girl I used to go with who was killed, murdered by accident. We was in the same class and she said, 'Kid Capri sounds like a good name for a DJ,' so I kept it."

DJ Wiz

The DJ from Queens, New York has been working the ones and twos for decades! Wiz appeared on TV in the 90s as house DJ on the Arsenio Hall-produced variety series The Party Machine with Nia Peeples.
