STUDY: Brushing Your Teeth Could Prevent Alzheimer's

You’ll be brushing and flossing all day after hearing this … Astudyfrom the University of Bergen in Norway found that brushing and flossing twice a day may prevent Alzheimer’s.

According to researchers, the bacteria that causes gingivitis (gum disease) makes a protein that kills nerve cells in the brain – leading to memory loss and, ultimately, Alzheimer’s.

 

“We discovered DNA-based proof that the bacteria causing gingivitis can move from the mouth to the brain,” says study co-author Piotr Mydel.

The solution? Brush and floss and go to the dentist regularly.
