The Crips Apologize To Nipsey Hussle's Family for Fighting Trademark War

The Crips are issuing an apologyto Nipsey Hussle’s family.

The gang filed paperwork to trademark, “The Marathon Continues,” the late rapper’s official slogan. Prior to his death, he’d been working with them on a mutual collaboration that required the slogan. They wanted to use it to promote gang intervention programs and community activism.

But Blacc Sam, Nipsey’s brother, wants to trademark the slogan and filed paperwork to do so. Once the Crips found that out, they backed off.

“There will absolutely be no trademark legal battle between [the Crips] and Blacc Sam, brother of the late Nipsey Hussle,” the organization said in a statement. They’ve “respectively vow[ed] to support the wishes of Lauren London and the Asghedom family... We realize that our actions may have been offensive and we
are deeply sorry for any disruptions and melee that the trademark acquisition may have caused to his family, friends and fans.”
