Teen Denied Six Flags Job Because Of Locks Scores Modeling Deal #GoodNews

Kerion Washington made headlines back in March after he was turned down for a position at Six Flags Texas because of his hair. Apparently the amusement park gave him ultimatum. “They told me I could cut my hair and come back, that it’s just hair and it would grow back,” he told Dallas News. “But they compared it to having a tattoo. I didn’t want to cut it.”

The 17-year-old had no idea upholding his integrity would lead him to a new career path. A few months later, Kerion received an IG message fromCorrie Caster, the head of development for IMG Los Angeles – the same agency that reps top models such asBella Hadid andAshley Graham.Apparently Carrie had never heard about his story. She just stumbled across his IG account and realized the teen had the perfect look for their company.

Kerion’s mom agreed to let him work with a local model agency and he recently had his first photo shoot in Austin. Right now he’s learning the model business and once he develops his portfolio, it will be pitched to IMG Models for consideration. Congrats for him!
