Arrest Involving the Civil Rights Activist Found Dead In Car Trunk

An autopsy shows Sadie Roberts-Joseph was murdered.

Investigators say the civil rights activist who founded an African American history museum was suffocated before her body was discovered in the trunk of a car.

The East Baton Rouge Coroner's office says the 75-year-old Roberts-Joseph died by asphyxiation and suffocation. No details except that her nose and mouth were “blocked” were given.

Roberts-Joseph was discovered in a vehicle parked just three miles from her home in Baton Rouge. MayorSharon Broomesays a reward of up to five-thousand dollars is being offered for information that will lead to an arrest.
