New Deets On *THAT* Epic TaylorSWift / Kanye West / Beyoncé VMAs Incident

Few people can forget the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, whenKanye Westjumped on stage to stealTaylor Swift’smoment, declaring, “Beyoncéhad one of the best videos of all time,” as Tay was giving her acceptance speech for Best Female Video. Well, now “Billboard” has looked back on the controversial show, and revealed some very interesting behind-the-scenes details.

WARNING: Video has some NSFW Kanye rants - DON'T LET YOUR BOSS HEWAR IT!

First off, while Taylor was left crying at what happened, word is that Bey felt so bad about what happened that she was found crying back stage, too - and that she wanted to leave. That prompted former Viacom president Van Toffler to basically let her know she’d be winning an award that night too.

Toffler says he hinted to Bey that she was going to be winning a different award that night and suggested she bring Taylor up with her. “I had to indicate to her that she needed to stay," he explains. "And perhaps this is a way to have this come full circle and let (Taylor) have her moment. I would normally not say anything, but I had two crying artists."

Should we prepare for anything similar this year? Who knows, but the 2019 VMAs are set for Monday at 8pm ET/PT...and we'll surely be watching.

  • And by the way? Ironically, Kanye wasn’t even supposed to be close enough to the stage to even try and pull off such a stunt. MTV News correspondent and producer Jim Cantiello reveals Kanye was supposed to be seated “several rows back," but at the last minute they realized there wasn’t enough men in front so they moved him.
  • ONE MORE THING! And it seems Pink did her part to stick up for Taylor during the incident, confronting Kanye after it happened. James Montgomery, former senior correspondent for MTV News, shares, "During the commercial break, he went back down to his seat and Pink walked up to him and got in his face," adding, "I wasn't close enough to hear the conversation, but she was pointing in his face and nodding her head back and forth, and giving him her two cents about how f**ked up this was and then stormed off."
