Holly Persic said she smelled something burning while driving her Kia, reports the Huffington Post. She pulled over, popped the hood and found walnuts.
Hundreds of them.
The squirrels in the walnut tree in her yard were storing them there for the winter. They also packet them in mounds of grass. That explains much of the burning smell.
Holly and her husband pulled out most of the nuts themselves. Mechanics at a local garage removed even more ― enough to half-fill a trash can. Not sure if their auto insurance is gonna cover that.
