Sterling K. Brown has a very nice physique, but not everyone was on-board with him getting that way – namely, his teachers at New York University.
When he was earning his Master of Fine Arts degree, his professors told him to stop lifting weights. “It’s gonna be hard for things to pass through you with all this musculature,” they told him.
“So for emotion, for feelings to flow through, you have to be a vessel, a sieve, rather than something that is heavily armored.”
He then switched up to cardio and yoga to keep in shape. Nowadays, he also incorporates calisthenics and basketball into his workouts. His goal is to live to be a hundred so he can meet his grandchildren.
