Cleanup Underway as Mayor Steinberg Asks Sac To Help Clean Up Downtown

Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg is asking Sacramento to help clean up the downtown area this morning, after a second night of damage to many businesses.

Sunday night, J Street was the target, with as many as 45 businesses being damaged.

Several along a stretch on 16th between K and J streets including PF Chang's, Mikuni’s, Starbucks and Pieology were vandalized.

Police say 22 were arrested for looting on Sunday night.

Monday morning, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg along with the Downtown Sacramento Association have asked people to come down and help clean up the area, starting at 8am Monday at Ali Youssefi Square at 7th and K streets.

Volunteers are being asked to bring supplies like gloves, jeans, closed-toe shoes and cleaning supplies.
