Ciara has opened up about welcoming Win Harrison Wilson in July 2020, alongside her husband Russell Wilson, admitting that she gave birth with a mask on.
During her cover story for SELF's January 2021 issue, the pop star, 35, spoke in-depth about the unusual circumstances of the birth. "My obstetrician, whoâs delivered all my babies, was not playing any games about this COVID,â Ciara told the magazine. âI literally made my first push with Win and then he was like, 'She needs a mask on. Get a mask on.' It happened so fast, so I still had my mask [down]."
"But he was like, âOh, no, no. She gonâ put that mask on.' My mask was pretty good. I could still breathe all right through it, so that was good," she continued. "But it was like, âWow. This is crazy. Iâm having to deliver a baby with a mask. What in the world?'"
Elsewhere in the feature, Cici spoke about her ultimate rule in surviving the pandemic with Wilson by her side. "Oh, my gosh, communication, communication, communication. I do believe the greatest challenge is being able to simply communicate," she admitted of their rule of thumb. "If we had any challenges with anything, whenever we do, we go to communication. I think thatâs a game-changer because we're able to get back to ground zero pretty easily because weâre aligned in the ways that we think about things and approach things."
