FKA Twigs is branching out from the music world to tell another story. During a recent interview with The Face, the R&B singer revealed that she's working on a television series about martial arts for FX.
โItโs like a martial arts TV series which is very much centred around outsiders,โ twigs explained. โAnd the idea of wanting to fit in but not being able to. Iโve been putting a lot of research into the way that the Black community and the Chinese martial arts community have a really deep connection. It goes into music: the Wu-Tang Clan came together almost through martial arts.โ
The television network has yet to formally announce the project, so stay tuned for more details.
Last week, twigs sat down with CBS This Morning''s Gayle King for her first televised interview since coming forward with abuse allegations and a civil lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf. During the conversation, King asked the controversial question: "Why didn't you leave?"
โI think we just have to stop asking that question. I know that youโre asking it out of love, but, like, Iโm just going to make a stance and say Iโm not going to answer that question anymore because the question should really be to the abuser: โWhy are you holding someone hostage with abuse?โโ twigs answered firmly.
She concluded: โPeople say, โOh, it canโt have been that bad, because she wouldโve left.โ And itโs like, no, because it was that bad, I couldnโt leave."
Twigs also recently spoke to Elle, where she divulged harrowing new details about the abusive relationship and admitted she was lucky to be alive.
LaBeoufโs legal team has refuted "each and every allegation" in twigs' complaint, and demanded that she pay all of his legal costs, as well as any "further relief as the Court may deem just and proper."
