Vanessa Bryant has called out Evan Rachel Wood for the âdisturbingâ tweet she wrote about her late husband Kobe Bryant on the day of his death.
Hours after the legendary Los Angeles Laker, 41, passed away in a horrible helicopter crash alongside his daughter, Gianna, 13, on January 26, 2020, the Westworld actress took to Twitter with the following message: âWhat has happened is tragic. I am heartbroken for Kobeâs family. He was a sports hero. He was also a rapist. And all of these truths can exist simultaneously.â
In all this time, Woodâs tweet had gone unnoticed by the grieving widow, who only just recently had the tweet brought to her attention over the weekend. In her response, Vanessa took aim directly at the 33-year-old actress in a message of her own.
âYour false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least,â the NBA iconâs widow wrote on Saturday (February 27) over a screenshot of Woodâs tweet.
âBehavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didnât commit. An accusation doesnât make someone guilty,â added Vanessa, who concluded, âYOU DONâT KNOW THE FACTS OF THE CASE.â
In 2003, Kobe was accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old hotel staff in Colorado. Ultimately, prosecutors dropped the charges after the alleged victim denied to testify. However, in 2005, the accuser brought a civil case against the basketball star, which was settled out of court.
In addition to calling out Wood, Vanessa blasted Meek Mill earlier this week for using Kobeâs death in a âdisrespectfulâ song lyric.
