I swear Lizzo can’t win for jack!
Lizzo jumped in the spotlight with her anthem worthy music and body-positive vibes. Over time, there seemed to be a 50/50 split on how people felt about Lizzo and her body.
Once she went virtual for going to a basketball game with her “cheeks” out. Another time she was allegedly seen twerking in Popeyes. Since then, I haven’t run into much new music from Lizzo but she’s constantly trending for her TikToks.
Recently Lizzo took to TikTok to show off her detox body annnndddd let’s just say her body positive fans weren’t here for it. Check out the video she posted and some responses and the video in question below
Lizzo came out to speak about why she posted it and even said “every big girl should do whatever the f—k they want with their bodies.” Check out the video below:
I find it so crazy that people are basically health shaming Lizzo. The fact that Lizzo only posted a detox video and everyone had a meltdown is crazy. I’m not sure when doing a detox meant that you don’t love the body that you’re in. The definition of a detox is “a process or period of time in which one abstains from or rids the body of toxic or unhealthy substances; detoxification.” So seeing that she said she drank and ate crazy food all November it makes total sense for her to do a cleanse. Heck, I even plan on doing one. Does that mean I don’t like the body I’m in? No, it means my skin maybe a little crazy, and my stomach is annoyed so I’m going to detox. What’s wrong with that?
I think with COVID people are finding things to complain about because they don’t have the option to do much else in their day to day lives. But I also feel people liked Lizzo in the “unhealthy big Black Woman” box. And now that she’s trying to be healthy, not necessarily drop a crazy amount of weight but HEALTHY. People say it’s self-hate. Which is dumb! I didn’t see anyone going in on Adele after she dropped her weight. If anything people were super proud and happy for her while asking for all her secrets. Damn shame.
