Donald Trump may have some black friends, but Russell Simmons isn’t one of them. At least, not anymore.
In case you missed it, the Def Jam founder has cut ties with the president. Simmons said that he used to consider Trump – who wrote the foreword to his first two books – a friend. “We haven’t been friends since the day he announced [his run] and I said, ‘I’d rather Kim Kardashian be President.’ So he called the office," says Simmons. "And that was the end of our friendship.”
And by the way? Just because Trump called - doesn't mean Uncle Russ even took the call. Because he didn't. How far apart have they fallen? Simmons says that he used to spend every weekend at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, and he was even with The Donald on his first date with Melania.
When asked if he knew about Donald’s "grabbing" issues, Simmons didn't give a clear answer, but offered, quote - “Well, you know, all of our friends have issues — I have issues. I accept people as they are as long as they're not running for President.” Speaking of "running" Russ is now planning to spearhead a “resistance” to Trump’s anti-immigration agenda.
