Jay-Z To Become The First Rapper In The Songwriters Hall of Fame

It certainly looks like 2017 is going to be a good one for Jay-Z. Not only are he and wife Beyoncé expecting twins, but Jay is also set to become the first rapper ever to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The newest inductees were just revealed, and also included in this year’s class are Swedish hitmaker Max Martin (writer of 22 number one hits including Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time” and Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way”), Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds (Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love To You”), Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (eight number one songs including Janet Jackson’s “When I Think Of You) and Chicago’s Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera (33 Top 40 hits).

Mowtown’s Berry Gordy will also be honored this year, after differing his induction last year.

The 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony is set for June 15th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
