Parents Up In Arms Over Baby High Heels for Sale

While getting to dress up baby girls in frilly clothes and tutus can be super fun, there is apparently one area of dress up where parents draw the line – high heel shoes.

A Pennsylvania company named Pee Wee Pumps offers a line of baby shoes for infants up to six months old that features collapsible heels. The shoes come in leopard print, zebra print and satin styles, which have names like “Sassy,” “Diva” and “Glamorous" and they're being promoted with pictures of babies dressed up in very adult-like outfits.

Well, needless to say there are some parents out there outraged over the product, and complain that the pictures are “sexualizing” young girls. “Those pictures are actually disturbing,” one person wrote on the Let Clothes Be Clothes Facebook page, while another added, “They're revolting and completely unnecessary.”

Creator of Pee Wee Pumps Michele Holbrook insists her products were simply created to be a “funny” prop for photos, and are made for kids who aren’t even taking their first steps yet. And while some parents actually think they are “cute,” others absolutely do not. “This is sexualization of children,” one person commented. “Let them play play play and not at being glamour models.”
