The 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro were all about Black Girl Magic, with U.S. Women showing their dominance in multiple sports.

20-year-old Simone Manuel made history on August 11th, 2016 by becoming the first black woman to earn a gold medal in individual swimming.

19-year-old Simone Biles also set a new American record for the most gold medals in women’s gymnastics at a single games, earning four Gold medals in Rio. She also served as flag bearer for the closing ceremonies, becoming the first American female gymnast to do so.
