Reese Witherspoon Wants Female-led Films To Be Able To Fail

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

In a new interview with “Marie Claire,” Reese Witherspoon says she wants female-led films to be able to fail. Though it may come as a shock to hear that come from the Time’s Up advocate, she has a pretty good reason for it.

When discussing how female projects have under-performed at the box office Witherspoon says, “It shouldn't just be about financial success. We should have as many opportunities to fail as we do succeed.”

Why you ask? “Because artistry is not about succeeding always," she explains. "It's about having the courage to try and put out into the world new ideas." Check out her full interview when the issue hits stands February 20th.
