In a new interview with âMarie Claire,â Reese Witherspoon says she wants female-led films to be able to fail. Though it may come as a shock to hear that come from the Timeâs Up advocate, she has a pretty good reason for it.
When discussing how female projects have under-performed at the box office Witherspoon says, âIt shouldn't just be about financial success. We should have as many opportunities to fail as we do succeed.â
Why you ask? âBecause artistry is not about succeeding always," she explains. "It's about having the courage to try and put out into the world new ideas." Check out her full interview when the issue hits stands February 20th.
