“The Meg” made a killer debut in the number one spot, biting off a good $44-point-five million locally over the weekend. That bumped “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” to second place, though it’s still going strong with a $20 million gross for its third weekend, raking in a total of $161-point-nine million.
Disney’s “Christopher Robin” is in the third spot with $12-point-four million after its second weekend, closely followed by debuts by “Slender Man” and Spike Lee’s latest “BlacKkKlansman.” “Slender Man” had a solid debut with $11-point-three million, thought it was a low-budget thriller. “BlacKkKlansman” saw Lee’s best opening in over ten years with $10-point-eight million, landing it in the fifth spot.
