Ruby Rose Deletes Twitter Over “Batwoman” Backlash

Ruby Rose has deleted her Twitter account after getting some major hate online about her new role in an upcoming CW series as lesbian superhero Batwoman.

We previously reported that Rose was cast in the role, and it looks like fans aren't happy about it. Some have complained that the Australian actress isn’t fit for the role of Kate Kane because she’s not Jewish, while others simply think her acting isn’t that good. Before deleting her account, Rose responded to some of the backlash. “I wish we would all support each other and our journey,” she wrote. “When women and minorities join forces we are unstoppable… when we tear each other down it’s much more hurtful than from any group.”

The Twitter user she was replying to was actually making a joke about the angered fans, writing “Queer women: Please cast out queer actors in queer roles! CW: *casts Ruby Rose* Queer women: This is an attack.” The joke wasn’t lost on Rose, though, who responded clearing up the confusion. She just wants to send a message to women and the LGBT community to give peace a chance when it comes to her first role as an openly gay lead superhero. See the fan’s original tweet below.
