Bono and the Edge of U2 sang 'Stairway To Heaven' as a tribute to their roadies, who often play the song as they're setting up the band's equipment. The pair took on the Led Zeppelin classic during a special tribute show over the weekend.
Bono showed his crew a lot of love before the performance stating, âIrish road crew, best in the world, that is for sure, we can say that...and the U2 group, we've been all over the world and that is well known. There is one annoying aspect of Irish crew, though, that has to be said. Wherever you go in the world, whatever venue youâre playing...whether itâs the Olympia or 3 Arena or Madison Square Garden...you walk into the venue and itâs a big moment, and youâll hear a song that we said, âWeâll never, ever play this.â And thatâs right: âStairway to Heaven.â These professionals believe they play this better than the band. And you know, it might be true."
