A wanted suspect was shot and killed Tuesday night in Natomas by police.

The man, who's identity has not been released, was wanted for attempted homicide of an officer.

The man, who is said to be in his 50's, made it inside of a home with other people in the 500 block of Wisconsin Avenue. SWAT and crisis negotiators were eventually able to get the others out of the home safely.

After several hours of negotiations, a Sacramento Police Department helicopter caught the man leaving the home through the back. He also had a firearm.

Police said the man ran "toward a perimeter officer," and that officer fired multiple shots at the man, hitting him at least once.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Video and audio of the incident will be released within 30 days, police said.
