Ella Mai was caught throwing shade at Jacquees on Twitter in a subliminal tweet. Fans are assuming Ella Mai was referring to Jacquees, who had performed his remix to 'Trip' when he was brought out to perform during Tory Lanez show. Ella Mai wrote on Twitter:
i’d be so embarrassed if someone brung me on stage and the only thing i could sing was someone elses song because nobody knew my actual music. poor thing.
SHADY! Recall, Jacquees 'Trip' remix went so viral last year to the point fans flocked to his version and begged Ella Mai to put Jacquees on the remix. Mai's label, 10 Summers, took the legal route in having Jacquees remix pulled from all streaming platforms including Youtube and Soundcloud stating they were ok with covers, but claimed Jacquees was attempting to make money from his remix. Fans were disappointed it was pulled especially because Ella Mai built her career doing covers.
Fans were quick to call out Ella Mai for her shade on Twitter.
After the shady tweet was noticed by multiple bloggers, Jacquees current girlfriend and rapper Dreezy, commented on Instagram writing: \
“1st of all he hate performing that song,” Dreezy wrote. “They put him on the spot and he did what he was sposed to do. Every single he dropped is gold or plat, humble yourself girl.”
Tory Lanez too to Instagram as well to post footage from his show where he brought out Jacquees to perform and clarified, Jacquees began his performance with his own song, not "trip" remix. He managed to throw a little shade as well writing:
I brought my lil brother out to HIS OWN SHIT... My nigga ain’t even wanna perform the remix .. matter fact he hate performing it ... But I put him on the spot . Cuz I figured we was in London at the O2, 30,000 in the stands and bunch of kids was asking for the REMIX . On another note@jacqueesU killed ALL the songs u performed tonight ! Jacquees on the other hand took the high road and took to Twitter to respond to Ella Mai directly writing:
Me and @DjMustard already cleared this up and we plan on working we on the next page. Im doing what I do. Much success to ya Ella Mai.
