Cal Expo has opened it's 9/11 Memorial Plaza for the day, a granite sphere inscribed with the names of the nearly 2,977 victims. The Plaza includes a 125-thousand pound I-Beam from the World Trade Center. The memorial is open today until 4 P.M.
The 9/11 Memorial Climb takes place starting at 8 A.M. at the Renaissance Tower at 801 K St. Firefighters and other participants carry the names of fallen New York Fire Department firefighters from Sept. 11, 2001, over their own on their turnout coats as they climb the stairs to the building’s roof.
And there is a massive display of American flags to commemorate the 9/11 victims in West Sacramento at South River Road and Jefferson Boulevard. Volunteers placed the flags which will remain displayed through Tuesday morning.
