Mariah Carey was being interviewed by Piers Morgan yesterday morning about her upcoming Christmas tour when Piers decided to surprise her with questions about the shooting in Las Vegas - and fans are not happy about it.
Piers asked Mariah about Vegas since she used to do a residency there, but he seemed to put her on the spot, since she hadn’t yet heard about the tragedy. “This is horrible. I pray for the victims,” she said, “That’s awful. I pray for the victims. I hope all this can stop.”
Well, several viewers took to social media to blast Piers for how he handled the interview. “So tasteless breaking the Vegas news to Mariah Carey live on TV, shame on you,” one commenter wrote, while another added, “Someone should have spoken to Mariah off air letting her know what was going on then postponed, instead of throwing that at her.”
Some folks didn’t seem to understand that the interview was supposed to be about Mariah’s holiday show and couldn’t grasp why she was seated next to a Christmas tree. One person noted, “Heartbroken for Vegas 😞 Can someone tell me why we’re asking Mariah what she thinks though? And why she has a xmas tree behind her?” Check out the interview to the right.
