For one man, crossing the finish line of a half marathon meant the triumphant end to a difficult chapter in his life.
Last year, Dean Otto was knocked off of his bike by a car. He broke his back, pelvis, tailbone, a leg and several ribs.
His surgeon, Dr. Matt McGirt, called the injuries catastrophic and said Otto's spine was torn apart. Confident in his recovery, Otto challenged the doctor to run a race with him.
