When Oprah Winfrey brought the house down with her Golden Globes speech, the Internet went crazy with people hoping she was just about ready to announce her candidacy for president. While she hasn't suggested anything like that might happen post the Globes, her boo thinks it's possible
After the ceremony, Meryl Streep told The Washington Post, “I want her to run for president. I don’t think she had any intention [of declaring]. But now she doesn’t have a choice.”
“It's up to the people,” Winfrey’s longtime partner, Stedman Graham, tells the Los Angeles Times. “She would absolutely do it." Meryl Streep adds that while she doesn't think Oprah has White House ambitions, "now she doesn’t have a choice." If Oprah is looking for more celebrity support, Jimmy Kimmel says between Oprah and our current president, "I'm on the bus with Oprah, traveling the country and urging people to vote." He does point out we'd have to call her President Winfrey and he doesn't think we could handle that as a country.
Meanwhile, Oprah's BFF Gayle King has previously said she doesn't think the media mogul would run. “I would bet my first, second-born and any unborn children to come, that ain’t never happening," Gayle said earlier this year. "Never. I’ll say never on this one. Nevah, N-E-V-A-H. Nevah.”
That was before the Golden Globes though...
