Never doubt the power of a newborn baby.
92-year-old Jean Roper of Alabama was suffering from kidney failure and given just weeks to live. In January, doctors told her family to start saying their goodbyes as there was nothing else they could do for her. Well, almost nothing.
Jean's great-granddaughter Amber Harris gave birth to a baby girl and named her Magnolia Jean, after her great-great grandmother. The baby girl's arrival turned out to be the best medicine -- because Jean immediately perked up and her condition dramatically improved.
Jean has seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren, and almost all of them are boys. She was excited to have a new baby girl and was thrilled to hold her for the first time.
Jean says, "[The baby] helped keep my mind off how weak and terrible I felt and I thought she was the most beautiful baby girl I'd ever seen. She was so tiny and every part of her was just perfect." Two months later, Jean is still around and still bragging about her newest great-granddaughter. She also got to celebrate her 75th wedding anniversary with her husband, Edward.
