When Amie Murphree got to the part of her reception where she tosses her bouquet, she says she was more nervous than she had been all day. After tying the knot with husband Colton Calhoun, Murphree helped her brother pull off a surprise proposal right there at her reception.
Amie’s little brother, Matthew, wanted to ask his girlfriend, Savannah Gore, to be his bride, so his sister helped him during her bouquet toss. Instead of throwing her wedding flowers, she turned and handed them to Savannah and Matthew got down on his knee and gave her an engagement ring. The crowd at the Somerville, Alabama nuptials cheered and she said yes.
While some brides might not have wanted to share the spotlight on their wedding day, Amie was happy to help her brother out. “Words can’t really explain how much that meant for her to share her day with me like that,” Matthew says. “It shows what kind of person she really is.”
