Prince fans will celebrate what would have been the funk rocker's 60th birthday this weekend in Henderson, Minnesota.
Joel King, a camera operator who worked on several Prince videos as well as the movie Graffiti Bridge, is organizing the tribute with fellow Prince fans from Minnesota, Maryland and New York.
Three days of events include bus tours of Purple Rain filming locations, a screening of the iconic 1984 film and live music from over a dozen acts, begin on Thursday.
New York artist Moises will paint a mural on the wall of a downtown Henderson business depicting Prince leaning on a little red Corvette in front of First Avenue.
While Prince was a Minneapolis native who built his Paisley Park compound in suburban Chanhassen, most of Purple Rain was filmed in Henderson, Minnesota, about 50 miles away.
