Lady Gaga was honored over the weekend for helping people deal with their emotional and mental problems -- and ended up talking a little about her own.
The star was singled out at Children Mending Hearts' Empathy Rocks fundraiser for her work with the Born This Way Foundation, and showed up to address the gala. In her acceptance speech, Gaga said "I have struggled for a long time, both being public and not public about my mental health issues or my mental illness. But I truly believe that secrets keep you sick."
She went on to talk about Born This Way, explaining the simple basis behind the group by saying "To me, almost every problem you can think of can be solved with kindness. At least it could be made better. Kindness has a soft undertone. Sometimes people think it is weak. It is tremendously powerful."
