John Legend is one step closer to an EGOT. The singer received two nominations for his work on NBC’s “Jesus Christ Superstar,” and should he win he will have fulfilled the ultimate of winning a GRAMMY, Oscar, Tony and Emmy.
John was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie and Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for playing the musical’s title role.
“Being a part of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ was one of my favorite experiences in my career," Legend said of his Emmy nods. "Such a wonderful show, such a wonderful team. I couldn't be more proud of what we all did together and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to do this.”
Legend has already won 10 GRAMMYs, as well as an Oscar for his "Selma" tune “Glory,” and a Tony for producing 2017’s Best Revival of a Play winner “Jitney”
- ONE MORE THING! Legend's wife Chrissy Teigan had a little fun with John's Emmy nods. "13 nominations for Jesus Christ Superstar this morning! John got two emmy nominations!," she tweeted, adding, "If he wins, he will complete his EGOT and my spike tv award will probably be moved. But it’s ok I AM SO PROUD!"
