The college football season is about to begin and 23rd-ranked University of Texas already have their first big highlight of the year.
The Longhorns last week brought senior defensive back Jarmarquis Durst, and many of his teammates, to tears when they surprised him with a full scholarship.
Durst, who walked on to the team before the 2016 season, has played in only two games -- both coming last year. But despite his lack of playing time, he's shown his teammates a tremendous amount of heart and dedication and has always given 100 percent.
Last Thursday, Durst was asked to speak at a team-wide meeting about his recent humanitarian trip to Jamaica. When he was done, an announcement was made that Durst has been given a full scholarship, surprising him and bringing him to tears.
After being mobbed by his teammates, Durst told them, "I wasn't supposed to be right here today in front of y'all. So many people wrote me off. Just to be here, I'm so thankful -- thankful for the staff, thankful for everybody in here. Y'all make me love being here every day." (Houston Chronicle)
