Cardi B is facing backlash for a skit she did for “Off the Rip” with “Wild ‘n Out” star Rip Micheals.
In “Real Housewives of the Civil Rights Movement,” Mrs. Offset is portraying Coretta Scott King, wife of Martin Luther King, Jr. She, along with Betty Shabazz, Rosa Parks, and Jacqueline Brown met up to discuss strategy. At one point, Cardi as Coretta says, “I think I should be the leader of this group. You know, my husband has marched in every state and has fought so we can use the same toilet as everyone else.” Betty interjects with, “Well, your husband is a ‘ho.”
In a confessional, Coretta said, “All these hussies wanna sleep with my husband. But it’s all right, ‘cause I know he comes marching home to me.”
- Both Dr. Bernice King and her brother, Martin Luther King the Third were offended by the reference to their father’s infidelity – especially since yesterday was the 55th anniversary of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Apparently Cardi has already reached out and apologized to Bernice and promised to have a face-to-face talk with her soon.
- Rip has also weighed in on the controversy. He said that it wasn’t fair to come down on Cardi because she was just delivering lines that he and his team wrote. In addition, he apologized to Bernice and Martin, but said that they need to see the skit in its entirety before judging it.
