It was downgraded to a Category 1 storm, but as it plowed into the southeastern U.S. on Friday, Hurricane Florence is bringing with it "life-threatening " rains and storm surge, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Early Friday morning there were already reports of collapsed roofs and other structures in North Carolina's Morehead City region.
Over in the City of New Bern, "high water rescues" were being conducted by local police and fire rescuers. (The Washington Post)
