Big Al's Weekend Movie Box Office Wrap-up: #ThePredator Takes Out #TheNun!

“The Predator” successfully debuted in the top spot with modest earnings of $24 million this weekend, dethroning “The Nun.” But the sixth film in the “Predator” franchise wasn’t loved by critics, earning just a C+ on CinemaScore. Meanwhile, “The Nun” isn’t trailing that far behind in the second spot with $18 million for its second week.

Another newcomer, “A Simple Favor” starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, raked in $16-point-one million for its third place debut. “White Boy Rick” starring Matthew McConaughey and Richie Merritt is next in the list of successful debuts with $8-point-eight million. One premiere that didn’t go so well was “Unbroken: Path To Redemption,” which debuted at number nine with $2-point-four million.
