Adonis Watt is a freshman running back for his high school football team and he recently scored two touchdowns for them. It’s impressive for a freshman, but Adonis happens to be blind as well. And the opposing team didn’t even know he couldn’t see.
The teen lost his sight when he was five due to a rare form of glaucoma, but it didn’t take away his desire to play football. Watt’s mom, Veronica, says she wanted her son to play a safer sport, but she supports his love of the game.
He plays for Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona, even though he pretty much can’t see anything. “You just got to trust your abilities,” Adonis says. “Trust your linemen and trust that the play will work.”
