Everything's coming up roses for Chaka Khan.
The voice of such classics as "I'm Every Woman," "Tell Me Something Good" and "I Feel for You" will be Grand Marshal of the 2019 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
The 130th annual New Year's Day celebration will be themed "The Melody of Life." Marchers step off just hours before the annual Rose Bowl college football playoff game.
After the announcement, Khan told reporters, "I’m so honored. This is something so new and different for me."
Different, indeed. She will be the first rock or R&B artist ever to be the parade's Grand Marshal, following -- literally -- in the footsteps of sportscaster Vin Scully (2014), Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (2006), William Shatner (1994) and Frank Sinatra (1980).
A 10-time Grammy-winner, Chaka Khan is currently a nominee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Los Angeles Times)
