A pizza deliveryman in Battle Creek, Michigan, went a little bit out of his way to bring a couple of pizzas to a terminally ill man and his family.
Julie and Rich Morgan of Indianapolis used to live in Battle Creek and have fond memories of eating at Steve's Pizza. While the couple was reminiscing about their favorite pizza place one night, Julie's father picked up the phone and called Steve's Pizza to ask if they would send Rich a card or a text to cheer him up. They did a lot more than that.
Dalton Shaffer, who manages Steve’s Pizza, asked what kind of pizza the family likes and then said he'd be there in a few hours.
Dalton got in his car and made the drive, getting to the family's house at 2:30 in the morning. Julie and Rich couldn't believe it. They offered to put Dalton up in a hotel for the night but he declined and got back in his car to make the drive back.
Julie wrote on social media, "I am beyond overwhelmed and humbled by this act of genuine kindness. Dalton brought our family so much joy -- and the best pizza in the world -- at a really difficult time." (NY Daily News)
