Ashanti Concert Gets Canceled After Selling 24 Tickets

Despite being one of the top recording artists in the early 2000s, Ashanti’s latest concert was cancelled due to extremely “low ticket sales.” She was scheduled to headline at Stony Brook University for a “Back to the Brook” concert but only 24 tickets were sold.

The school said in a statement, “As an organization, we do our best to host programs for students while providing diversity and inclusion. However, we have struggled to execute certain aspects. With only a week before the concert, only 24 tickets were sold to students."

While it looks bad, it’s not totally Ashanti’s fault. Apparently Teyana Taylor was originally booked for the gig, but she backed out two weeks prior. That left organizers scrambling to find a replacement and didn’t really have time to promote. Plus the college kids probably aren’t too familiar with Ashanti’s hits. Let’s hope that’ll change since she’s back in the studio working on a joint project with Ja Rule.
