The drama surrounding Usher’s herpes lawsuit seems to be never-ending.
Now the singer has reportedly asked for a gag order in the case against plaintiff Laura Helm. Usher feels that the details are so “sensitive and embarrassing” that they could potentially ruin his reputation.
To review, Helm sued Usher earlier this year claiming that he knowingly exposed her to herpes simplex after two sexual encounters in 2017. That’s why he’s reportedly a filed new motion requesting the judge to seal the evidence moving forward. The way he sees it, as a “public figure, he has a lot to lose if details about his sexual activities, intimate partners and medical records come out as part of the case.”
The motion goes on to say that IF everything became public, “it would cause himself, Helm and third-party witnesses harm, annoyance and/or embarrassment.” In addition, he doesn't want the media to make profit off his personal records.
This isn’t the first time the singer reportedly used a similar argument. He did the same thing in the herpes exposure cases involving Quantasia Sharpton and an anonymous man.
So far, Helm hasn’t responded to the motion and a judge has not ruled on his request.
