You might remember Natalie Barnes, the Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver, who went above and beyond with helping a local homeless man. Not only did she let him stay warm on her bus, she fed him â and helped him secure a shelter.
Now sheâs being recognized for that act of kindness. The transit systemsâ CountyExecutive presented her with an MCTS Excellence award, which highlights employees who demonstrate compassion and kindness.
âAt some point in our lives, everybody needs help,â Barnes says in a statement. âI wanted to do what I could to help Richard in some way.â Richard dubbed her his guardian angel, and now, theyâre close friends. Natalie regularly checks in with him and reveals âheâs progressing very well.â As for Richard, heâs currently working with an agency to help him find permanent housing.
