Grant Elementary School in Washington recently created a "Kindness Club." The program has 30 members who commit random acts of kindness around school. Each week, the students’ meet to plan out their activities and sign up for jobs such as reading buddies, mentor younger students, art buddies or morning greeters.
School counselor Madeline Sells said she was inspired by six grader, Echo Gring who always offers to help her peers and teachers. Sells decided to channel her thoughtfulness into giving back to the community and the school. The “Kindness Club” apparently is already making impact. Sells said she noticed a boost in the students’ self-esteem, which is they feel is an important part of Grant Elementary.
