Food Porn Commercial Sparks Boycott Of Heinz

The usually family-friendly Kraft Heinz food brands went a bit spicy this week with a new Superbowl ad. They ran a sneak peek of the ad on Pornhub this week and some people didn't find it amusing at all

 

Kraft Heinz's Devour brand ran advertisements on the website Pornhub last Monday and they said it was intentional and that its part of a larger Super Bowl campaign centered around "food porn." The ads, which only ran for a day, focuses on a man’s “food porn” addiction and how it is destroying his relationship with his girlfriend. In the innuendo-packed minute-long advertisement, Devour pokes fun at porn-addiction but replaces them with a frozen meal.

Now, a boycott of Kraft Heinz products has been called for by Culture Reframed, an organization that builds resilience and resistance to hypersexualized media and porn. The group says the ad normalizes the use of porn and makes light of the costs of porn addiction. The group also says that the use of porn is, "the public health crisis of the digital age."
