Jussie Smollett has officially gone from victim to suspect.
The Chicago Police Department says theEmpirestar is now under investigation for filing a false police report.
If convicted of the Class 4 felony, Jussie could get one to three years in prison.
Last month the actor claimed he was attacked by two men who shouted "racial and homophobic slurs." But the case took a turn after police arrested and interviewed two brothers who were initially identified as suspects.
The brothers, Ola and Abel Osundairo, told police Jussie paid them $3500 to stage the attack.
CBS Chicago released surveillance video of the brothers buying ski masks, gloves, bandanas, sunglasses and red hats they used during the hoax.
