Honolulu Couple Recognized For Helping Homeless Communities #GoodNews

Craig and Danica Shoji created a mobile business to help the Honolulu homeless community.Revive + Refresh provides showers and hot meals to those in need.

Craig told Good Morning Americathat he was inspired to fulfill a greater purpose in 2015 after visiting an underprivileged community in San Francisco.“I was walking down a street and as I passed by a homeless individual, ‘I just told him, ‘Good Morning,’” Craig explained. “He was kind of surprised that I said that to him because no one ever says anything to him.” That moment also made him realize how important it was “to just treat people like normal people.”

At that point, the couple startedLaundry Love, a service that provided fresh clothes to the homeless community. Since then, their business grew to provide much more. They travel around to different events with the trailer offering showers that are fully equipped with toiletries and supplies. Afterwards, the attendees are given a hot meal. “Just to see their faces when they come out, it's like a different person,” Craig said.
